Inspections

EWG – a strategic partnership between Belvent A/S and Davai Bridge & Tunnel – offers specialized inspection services for suspension bridges and offshore structures. Our expertise includes flow and injection testing for cable dehumidification feasibility, certified FROSIO coating inspections, and evaluations of surface treatment, ventilation, and control systems.

Learn more about our inspection services below.

Flow and Injection Testing / Cable Dehumidification Feasibility Testing

EWG carries out specialized flow and injection tests to determine whether main cable dehumidification is a technically viable solution. Keeping the relative humidity (RH) below 40% is critical to eliminate corrosion on wire cables, box girders, and metallic components in general. Our testing helps assess whether this condition can be achieved and maintained inside suspension bridge cables.

By injecting air and measuring pressure drop and internal airflow distribution within cable enclosures, we evaluate both the air-tightness and flow dynamics of the system. These tests are essential during early design stages, retrofit assessments, and when validating the performance of existing dehumidification systems.

The data gathered supports optimized system design, accurate dimensioning, and long-term maintenance planning — helping bridge owners ensure corrosion protection and extend the service life of their infrastructure.

All testing is performed using proven procedures and equipment, tailored to site-specific and structural conditions.

FROSIO Coating Inspections

Davai Bridge & Tunnel provides certified FROSIO coating inspections (Levels I–III) performed by experienced personnel with extensive backgrounds in surface protection for infrastructure, offshore, and industrial applications. Our team consists of FROSIO-certified inspectors across all three levels, ensuring the right level of expertise is applied to each project, whether it involves basic reporting or advanced quality control, supervision, and project management.

We conduct inspections in accordance with international standards and project-specific requirements, covering all phases of coating work — from surface preparation and environmental control to application, curing, and final acceptance. Our inspectors monitor surface cleanliness, roughness profiles, coating thickness, adhesion, and overall conformity with specifications. We also assess corrosion conditions and advise on remedial actions where needed.

Davai’s FROSIO services are trusted on a wide range of complex structures including bridges, offshore wind turbines, ships, cranes, and chemical processing facilities. Whether for new installations, refurbishment projects, or periodic maintenance, our inspections help ensure long-term durability, compliance with standards, and efficient use of coating systems. Combined with EWG’s broader expertise, we provide an integrated inspection approach that supports asset integrity and lifecycle management.

Ventilation, Dehumidification and Control System Assessments

Through Belvent’s decades of experience in industrial and bridge-specific dehumidification and ventilation systems, EWG brings specialized expertise to the assessment and optimization of environmental control solutions in harsh and demanding settings. Our inspections cover the full scope of installed systems — from mechanical components and air distribution to filtration, sensors, and control logic — ensuring that the entire setup operates reliably and efficiently.

Each assessment typically begins with an in-depth review of the system design and its performance in practice, based on operational data and on-site evaluation. This includes airflow measurements, humidity control performance, pressure drop analysis, and the condition of filters and ductwork. We identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, or mismatches between system capacity and the actual environmental requirements of the structure — whether it be a anchorage, box girder, or enclosed sections.

A central part of our service is evaluating the control and automation setup. This includes inspection of system integration, sensor calibration, PLC or SCADA-based control systems, and their ability to maintain optimal relative humidity while minimizing energy consumption. Based on the findings, we provide targeted recommendations for system optimization, including smarter control strategies, filter upgrades, ventilation balancing, and potential energy-saving retrofits. These measures can significantly reduce operational costs while enhancing the durability and protective function of the system.
